Kyle Busch addresses possible return to Joe Gibbs Racing, Hendrick Motorsports

The NASCAR regular season is drawing to a close, and pressure is mounting on Kyle Busch, who is currently 31 points behind the playoff cut-line. Busch has been quick, but last weekend at Iowa Speedway, a mechanical problem forced him out of the race. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s future has been a topic of much discussion amidst his difficulties.

When Bob Pockrass of FOX Sports questioned Busch about the possibility of rejoining Joe Gibbs Racing in the future, he provided a response that could annoy Richard Childress Racing. Busch mentioned Hendrick Motorsports as well.

“I always believe that anything is possible,” Busch remarked. Without a doubt, I would return to Joe Gibbs Racing if I were welcomed. I would return if [Hendrick Motorsports] invited me back. However, I’m currently at [Richard Childress Racing] with my group of friends and the current arrangement I have. We’re working hard to develop this program and restore RCR to its former glory.

Busch could have refrained from commenting on Joe Gibbs Racing, but he purposefully addressed Hendrick Motorsports in his response. The No. 8 car’s driver has a deal with Richard Childress Racing through 2025, but it expires before the 2026 campaign. Then, is Busch likely to rejoin Hendrick Motorsports or Joe Gibbs Racing? The door is not shut.
