Jolie and Pitt’s daughter Shiloh seeks name change

A Los Angeles court has received a petition from actress Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt asking for Pitt’s name to be removed.
On May 27, the day of her 18th birthday, Shiloh Jolie, the daughter of Hollywood stars Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, filed a lawsuit to change her name.

In September 2016, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Brad Pitt; however, the specifics of their split are still pending, and a settlement has not yet been reached.
In addition, the couple is presently embroiled in a legal dispute regarding Chateau Miraval, a French winery they jointly purchased.
Although Shiloh is the third oldest of the six children born to the former couple, she is not the first of her siblings to wish to drop the Pitt surname.
Her sister Vivienne, 15, removed their father’s last name from her listing in a Playbill program for a Broadway production of The Outsiders earlier this year.
Additionally, in a 2023 video, Zahara, the eldest daughter, is heard and seen introducing herself as Zahara Marley Jolie upon joining the Spelman College sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha.
But out of the siblings, Shiloh—who voiced herself in the animated movie Kung Fu Panda 3—is the first to formally petition for a legal name change.
This legal request coincides with developments in Jolie and Pitt’s (who were married in August 2014) divorcing court case.
Following an alleged 2016 incident in which Jolie claimed Pitt had grabbed her by the head and assaulted two of their children on an airplane, Jolie filed for divorce.

According to her, Pitt also verbally and physically assaulted his family while they were on the plane from France to Los Angeles.
He refutes the accusations.
Pitt was granted joint custody in 2021 after the two got into a legal custody dispute.
Additionally, both actors have sued one another.
Conflicts between the two involve property and joint business endeavors, such as Château Miraval.
Pitt filed a lawsuit against Jolie and her business, Nouvel, in February 2022, alleging that she had sold her portion of the winery without getting his supposedly consented approval.
Legal documents stated that when Jolie sold her share of their jointly owned vineyard to a Russian oligarch, she “sought to inflict harm” on her ex-husband.
Angelina Jolie’s legal team filed a motion on April 4, 2024, asking for communication to be allowed. They claimed the motion would “prove” that Pitt would not permit her to sell him her Château Miraval shares unless she signed a “expansive” non-disclosure agreement.

Pitt is facing a countersue regarding allegations that he utilized millions of dollars in funding from Château Miraval for personal endeavors.
