Shock News: Head coach Jake Diebler has finally bring back more…
Jake Diebler Talks Summer Workouts, Coaching Staff and Roster Reconstruction
Columbus, Ohio — On Monday morning, Ohio State men’s basketball head coach Jake Diebler had a media meeting. He talked about the coaching staff and roster adjustments.
Since the season ended in March, Ohio State has brought on five new assistant coaches and four new players. What Diebler said is as follows.
+ He wasn’t following a to-do list, but he was making an effort to be productive every day. The staff element was crucial, but he was unable to manage the large roster and recruit new players.
+ With this coaching staff and roster, he is having an absolute blast and has been enjoying himself immensely. “This spring has been fun.”
+ Diebler discussed how they wanted to structure the roster more in accordance with the playing style they intend to have going forward. However, they also needed to quickly move on, adjust, and not take anything personally.
+ Diebler discussed the added players’ versatility and how they were purposefully chosen because it makes them difficult to guard and allows them to be more inventive on defense. Each of the four
+ The goal is to occupy the last available roster spot. “We are putting a lot of thought into that.”
+ Diebler stated that the new members of the coaching staff have all come from successful programs and have achieved great success. Jamaal Walker has just concluded the most successful three years in the school’s history. Luke Simons was employed by Scott Drew, a person he knows and has faith in, at Baylor. Unbelievable success in the league and tournament for Talor Battle. Diebler was here the last time with a final four team that included Dave Dickerson. When it came to hiring, he was dedicated to finding coaches who shared his commitment to seeing young men flourish and to helping the team advance toward winning a championship.
+”You must possess adaptability. I believe that the days of knowing exactly what your roster will look like year to year, a year in advance, are largely gone. He chooses to see the bright side of it, as it allows them to rotate in the right pieces each year. They are going to keep searching far and wide for the right players who are serious about winning.
Diebler stated of the Colin White and Juni Mobley freshman class, “I really like our two freshman. They both have the potential to add significant value to this team. It’s important to note that both players adore Ohio State.
+ According to Diebler, “it’s more about turning a page and less about bridging a gap.” It will not be the same. I’ve learned a lot from Holt [Chris Holtmann], who is a great coach and I think will succeed greatly at DePaul, but we need to start over since this is a whole new program.
+ Bruce Thornton is a player who brings him comfort and serenity as a first-year head coach.
+ The knowledge and firsthand experience of Sean Stewart and Aaron Bradshaw with college basketball will be invaluable. However, they also have a seasoned backcourt, which will aid in their ascent to more prominent roles this year.
+ People have frequently told him to “be yourself.” Many of his personal routines have not changed since he was appointed head coach.
+ Regarding NIL’s future, Diebler expressed his hope that The Foundation continues to play a role, noting how beneficial they have been to their program and how well they have integrated it with the community. Because he isn’t set in his ways, he believes it is advantageous that he hasn’t been a head coach for as long. “That’s thrilling.”
+ This season, there will be fierce competition for available spots.
