With players from Highland and neighboring counties, the Hillsboro-based seventh-grade Lady Mambas AAU basketball team had a great weekend, winning the Buckeye Storm Classic Tournament in Portsmouth. The squad will compete in the South Carolina National Championship Tournament from June 19–23 thanks to this tournament victory.

On Saturday, the Lady Mambas defeated the Assassins 2028–2029 with a score of 57–18 and the WV Wild 2029 with a score of 49–18 in pool play at Portsmouth. On Sunday, they played in a tournament. They defeated Assassins 45–23 and defeated WV Wild 2029 38–32 in the championship game.

With two first-place titles, one second-place, one fourth-place, and one sixth-place finish this season, the 2024 Lady Mambas’ overall season record is currently 15-4.
