If Katin Houser has it his way, the new East Carolina quarterback – who’s been on campus officially for less than a month – will know all his teammates’ names by the end of this week. It may sound simple in theory, but learning 100-plus new people in the midst of getting comfortable in a new location and within a different locker room, is easier said than done.
But that’s the task Houser has assigned himself as he looks to become the type of potential leader the Pirates’ offense was so desperately missing last season in a 2-10 campaign under head coach Mike Houston.
“I feel like it’s the biggest part of moving schools and being a leader,” Houser said on Tuesday’s edition of Hoist The Colours radio. “You can’t just walk in and boss guys around, and expect to be the leader. You have to earn people’s trust. That’s why I feel it’s important to bond with the guys, get to know people. My goal right now is to learn everybody’s name by the end of this week.”
