NFL Betting: Arizona Cardinals Open With Win Total Over/Under of 6.5

After two years in the NFL basement, will the Cardinals climb the stairs to relevancy in 2024?

The betting markets have their doubts.

Despite the prospect of a healthy Kyler Murray to begin the season, the Cardinals have opened with a win total of only 6.5 for the 2024 regular season, per DraftKings on March 25th.

There is -110 juice on each side of the wager, which means the sportsbook believes six or seven wins are the most equally-likely outcomes in the upcoming year.

It is the sixth-lowest win total in the NFL, behind the Patriots, Panthers, Titans, Broncos and Giants.

The Arizona Cardinals are in a rebuilding phase but have shown signs of life, winning three of eight games after the return of star receiver Marvin Harrison, Jr. The offensive attack could benefit from selecting Harrison with the No. 4 overall pick in the draft. However, the defense finished last in efficiency in 2023 and did not add any game-breaking talents in free agency. The Cardinals have made the playoffs only once in the past eight seasons and have been given +330 odds to secure a postseason berth in 2024, with an implied probability of 23.3%. The Cardinals opened with a projected win total of 4.5 a season ago and ended up with four victories. Arizona has a rough schedule, with strong teams in the NFC West and AFC East. The Cardinals did not make a significant move at the start of the league year, and their odds to win the Super Bowl dropped after the first week of leaguewide moves. DraftKings is pessimistic about the Cardinals’ ability to finish above.500 or make the postseason in 2024.
