Johnson will bolster the injured defense of the Flyers. Jamie Drysdale’s comeback date is unknown, while recently extended Nick Seeler is on injured reserve.
In exchange for Johnson, the Flyers are giving up a 2024 fourth-round selection.
Having been selected first overall in the 2006 NHL Draft, Johnson has participated in 970 games. He has three goals in 50 games this season with Buffalo.
Johnson will become a UFA following this season, with a $3.25 million cap hit. There was no salary retained by the Sabres.
