Ansu Fati, who was being pursued by Arsenal, Manchester United, and Tottenham, has reportedly made the decision to quit Barcelona.
As a graduate of Barcelona’s academy, Fati has always been expected to become a star and is presently the youngest goalscorer in club history as well as the Champions League.
In 110 club appearances, the 20-year-old player has already created 10 assists, scored 29 goals, and even inherited Lionel Messi’s No. 10 shirt. However, it looks that his time with the Spanish powerhouses is coming to an end.
Although the player and the club turned down Arsenal’s bid a few weeks ago, it is now said that the forward has changed his mind about sticking at Camp Nou and competing for his spot.
Fati was substituted for fellow young players Abde Ezzalzouli and Lamine Yamal by Xavi with just 11 minutes remaining in Barcelona’s first La Liga match of the season against Getafe.
According to AS Sport, Fati was persuaded by that choice that he is no longer in his manager’s plans and that he needs to depart in order to get regular playing time.
The Gunners, Red Devils, and Spurs are just a few of the Premier League and European teams that are interested in signing the Spain international.
The latter two are in need of additional forward help; United is hunting for a striker, particularly now that Rasmus Hojlund, their recent acquisition, is sidelined, while Tottenham is considering Harry Kane’s alternatives.
This summer, he could have joined Wolves in a trade that would have seen Ruben Neves go the other way, but the midfield player chose to join Al-Hilal of the Saudi Professional League.
With four years remaining on his contract, Fati is a versatile forward. It is unclear what price Barcelona would be willing to pay, if any.
