Jaguars DE Josh Allen’s tenth sack of the year creates history.

The rookie defensive end set a record with his tenaciousness in securing his rookie season’s tenth sack.

Many anticipated Josh Allen, the seventh overall pick of the Jaguars in the 2019 NFL Draft, to provide a strong pass rush in lieu of Pro Bowl defensive end Yannick Ngakoue. Allen has not let up, and he made history today with his tenth sack, adding his name to the NFL and team record books.

With his debut season, Allen became the only player in franchise history to achieve ten sacks. Defense end Yannick Ngakoue set the previous team record with eight sacks as a rookie. Along with Ngakoue, Allen is one of the only Jaguars players 22 years of age or younger to record ten or more sacks in a single season.

For a player from Kentucky who was mostly used as a stand-up rusher, this season has been nothing short of amazing. Over the last 14 games, Allen has played most of the time with his hands on the ground, which is something not everyone thought he was capable of doing. He has also filled multiple positions along the team’s defensive line, emerging as one of their most versatile players.

Allen added his name to NFL records in addition to team records.

Allen is the sixth rookie in the NFL since 2010 to record double-digit sacks, leading all rookies.

In an interview with Big Cat Country earlier this month, Allen talked about his “fun” rookie season. Allen has been able to seize the opportunities that have come up, even when the team hasn’t been winning. Allen has been equally happier this season playing with his opponent in Ngakoue.

Allen told Big Cat Country, “We got the same mentality when we play on the field.” “We strive to defeat our one-on-one opponents for our team, regardless of the circumstance or play.”

In their 20-16 victory over the Oakland Raiders today, Allen and Ngakoue combined for three sacks, five tackles-for-loss, three quarterback 7yhits, and a pass defense. The two should always be kept together as the first priority.
