Former Celtics stars feel this is the year Boston wins it all

“It’s palpable here,” Paul Pierce and Antoine Walker exclaim as they support the Celtics to win the championship.

“We bleed green, we’re a family, we’re a culture, and that’s why you see guys like me and Antoine always around.”

In 2008, Paul Pierce and the Celtics won the championship. He has continued to support the current Boston team’s attempts to raise banner 18 at the TD Garden more than 15 years later, both during the off-season and throughout the regular season.

Nor is he alone himself.

Several former Celtics have visited Boston during the season to give guidance and support to Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and the upcoming generation of players. While Pierce and Antoine Walker have been present on several occasions, Rajon Rondo made an appearance at a morning session in October.

In an interview with the “View From the Rafters” podcast, Pierce and Walker discussed what makes them feel at ease about returning to support the Celtics in 2023–24.

I feel like I’m a part of this, so I told Jaylen that I want them to win more than everything in the world. “And I have a role in this… Guys like Antoine and myself are always around because we are a family, we are a culture, and we bleed green. This organization is our family, and they always extend a warm invitation to return.

“When you’re at the practice facility, you can sense it in the air. Pierce stated, “I believe they sense it.” “I believe that men believe this is their moment… Typically, the process involves going through your highs and lows, difficult defeats, and difficult playoff matches, and you eventually figure

Pierce and Walker recognize a lot of similarities between Tatum and Brown. As important players, they both began their journey toward greatness when they joined the Celtics in the late 1990s. Sadly, they separated before they could overcome their differences and move on as a pair. Walker is grateful that the Celtics kept Tatum and Brown together even though it ultimately benefited all parties.

Walker remarked, “I think it shows a lot of commitment that they believe in those two guys.” “And they’ve had early success, I mean me and Paul had some early success, but these guys come in their second, third year in the league and they’re making deep playoff runs. This ownership group believes in them and this business, and that’s the amazing thing
