Report: Raiders Meet With Award-Winning Quarterback…
With the hiring of a new offensive coordinator, the Las Vegas Raiders will have a clearer notion of which quarterback to target in the 2024 NFL Draft. Many of the best seniors are in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl, but it will still be weeks until freshmen can impress clubs at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. is among the prominent players clubs are keeping an eye on. The Athletic’s Tashan Reed reports that Penix and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix have visited with the Raiders.
In a commentary published on February 1, Reed stated, “Of course, the Raiders contingent isn’t here just to analyze quarterbacks, but that’s a significant piece of its assignment.” “Penix and Nix”
The Senior Bowl was a showcase for that arm power. He easily drove the ball to the outer regions of the field as it practically erupted out of his hand.
Penix’s age of 24 when the NFL regular season begins and his history of two torn ACL injuries are further concerns. Despite those concerns, there isn’t much of a risk involved in selecting the No. 13 choice as a possible star quarterback.
How About Bo Nix?
Bo Nix was also a guest of the Raiders, as Tashan Reed revealed. He went to college for a long time and will be 24 in the 2024 season, much as Michael Penix. The two play in different ways, though. Despite having a strong arm—he completed 77.4% of his throws at Oregon last season—Nix prefers to make plays with his legs.
Nix totaled 1,613 yards of rushing throughout his time in college. When Kliff Kingsbury was the head coach of the Arizona Cardinals with Kyler Murray, he had a dual-threat option in him. The Raiders should be able to select him at No. 13 in the 2024 draft.
