Bill Callahan, the offensive line coach for the Browns, will join his son on the Titans’ staff, according to an AP source.

CLEVELAND (AP) — With the Titans, there are now two Callahans.

According to a person familiar with the discussions who spoke with The Associated Press on Thursday night, offensive line coach Bill Callahan is leaving the Cleveland Browns to work with his son Brian’s staff with the Tennessee Titans.

The individual who spoke on condition of anonymity stated that Callahan has notified the Browns that he is accepting the position since the clubs are keeping their comments to themselves during the interview process. Since 2020, the older Callahan has worked with Cleveland coach Kevin Stefanski.

The Titans, who dismissed Mike Vrabel on January 9 after two losing seasons, just hired Brian Callahan. Since 2019, the 39-year-old Callahan has served as Cincinnati’s offensive coordinator.

When speaking about his father during his inaugural press conference, Brian Callahan broke down in tears.

“I don’t think there are many fathers and sons who have been head coaches in the NFL,” he remarked. “I think it’s really arrogant of him and myself to be affiliated with it. Living this lifestyle means that you will encounter many ups and downs as well as obstacles in your coaching career.

It is truly an honor for me that he has been able to do the same thing as me by standing up here. You obviously aspire to emulate your father.

One of the top offensive line coaches in the NFL is said to be Bill Callahan. The 67-year-old

This season, despite the Browns’ offensive line being decimated by injury, he produced some of his greatest performance.

Callahan assisted rookie Dawand Jones in his rapid development after the club lost starting right tackle Jack Conklin to a season-ending knee injury in the first game. Jones, an Ohio State product selected in the fourth round of the draft, performed admirably in 11 games before to sustaining a knee injury.

The Browns used backups at both tackle positions over the last stretch of the season and in the playoffs after left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. suffered a knee injury.

Pro Bowl left guard Joel Bitonio honored Callahan this week, acknowledging that his departure from the Browns was probably imminent. Callahan has been a member of the team since 2020.

However, if your son calls after being hired as the head coach, you might also need to answer it. That is truly unique material.

The Browns and Stefanski, who reorganized his staff after an 11-6 regular season and a 45-14 defeat to the Houston Texans in the wild-card round, both feel that Callahan’s departure is a significant loss.

Stefanski dismissed tight ends coach T.C. McCartney, running backs coach Stump Mitchell, and offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt.

For those corresponding roles, he recruited Ken Dorsey, Duce Staley, and Tommy Rees; however, the Browns have not yet made the hires public. Additionally, Stefanski appointed Jacques Cesaire, a former Houston assistant, as his defensive line coach.
