Strength and conditioning coach fired by the Packers
For the first time since Matt LaFleur was hired in 2019, his team will be searching for a new strength and conditioning coach.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Tom Silverstein reported on Wednesday that Chris Gizzi, the coordinator of strength and conditioning for the Green Bay Packers, had left the position. The termination (or at least demotion) of former defensive coordinator Joe Barry was the first significant announcement the Packers made today. This is the second important announcement.
Former Packers player Gizzi was a member of the team from 2000 to 2001. He rejoined the team as a strength and conditioning assistant in 2014 following a spell with the North Carolina Tarheels. Matt LaFleur was elevated to the position of head strength and conditioning coordinator in 2019, his first year as head coach.
Despite having one, there’s no denying that the Packers were hurt this season.
