Someone capable of saving the Cleveland Browns’ season was desperately needed.
In the process of preserving his career, Joe Flacco came to the rescue.
Following Deshaun Watson’s season-ending injury, Flacco guided the team to the postseason, inspiring a fervent atmosphere at Cleveland Browns Stadium and winning back the fans’ faith.
Even though everyone is aware of how the team’s season ended, Flacco had a fantastic run.
Veteran Joel Bitonio had nothing but positive things to say about him because of this.
Regarding his time with the club, Flacco discussed how much of a fantastic guy he is, the work he did to get to know them, and how much of a legitimate member of the locker room he is (via Daryl Ruiter).
Even at this stage of his career, he believes he has a future in the league.
Flacco demonstrated his ability to make an impact and help a club win a few games.
Few seasoned quarterbacks would be willing to accept a backup position, have a good outlook, and have a positive influence on the locker room.
If the Browns decide to keep him, it wouldn’t be remarkable.
They have a lot of faith in Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who may be selected for QB2, but he may stay on as an experienced leader and mentor.
Injuries ruined the Browns’ bright season, and nobody ever imagined that they would be supporting Joe Flacco of all people.
Stump Mitchell Talks About The Browns and “Bad Blood”
To start the offseason, the Cleveland Browns made a few significant transactions.
Interestingly, firing one of Alex Van Pelt’s subordinates created more uproar than even letting go of the OC.
Since his arrival five years ago, running backs coach Stump Mitchell has been a fan favorite, and some believe he was let go unfairly.
However, the seasoned coach doesn’t feel that way. He recently told Camryn Justice of News 5 Cleveland that he was thankful for his five years of employment and that there is no animosity between them and the company (via Camryn Justice on Twitter).
“Tainted blood? Oh, please, no. I mean, this company offered me the chance to work there.
Top OC Candidate Is Being Interviewed by Browns Today
The Cleveland Browns parted ways with a number of members of their offensive coaching staff to start their offseason.
Along with the TE and RB coaches, Alex Van Pelt was fired, although it doesn’t appear like long until they find someone qualified to take over.
Insider Scott Petrak on Twitter reports that today’s interview with Houston Texans quarterback coach Jerrod Johnson will take place.
Deshaun Watson reportedly gave him his blessing after observing the results he achieved in Houston this season with rookie quarterback C.J. Sroud.
The Texans are expected to consider Johnson as a top candidate to replace Bobby Slowik as head coach if Slowik is fired this season. Johnson is one of the top prospects in the coaching hiring process this year, so the Browns may need to make a big offer to persuade him to move to Berea.
In an effort to maximize Watson’s skill set, the squad is looking for a partner with whom he can get along.
It’s unknown if Johnson or whoever replaces Kevin Stefanski as offensive coordinator will take over play-calling offensive plays.
