SHOCKING NEWS: Phillies head player found dead some hours ago

The Phillies may be holding out for the Cy Young winner’s price to drop.
The Philadelphia Phillies may be waiting for his price to drop before making an offer for the current NL Cy Young winner.

One of the more intriguing teams to monitor at this point in the summer is still the Philadelphia Phillies.

Re-signing Aaron Nola let them to keep him and Zack Wheeler at the top of their rotation, which was their intended outcome, but things have been quiet ever since.

This roster is obviously lacking, especially in the bullpen where Craig Kimbrel left in free agency and the group has struggled in recent years.

Yet, there has been no major additions to their relief staff and it seems like the front office is still interested in starting pitching.

The Phillies have been linked to numerous starters this offseason, including those still on the market like Blake Snell and Jordan Montgomery.

Snell is the reigning NL Cy Young winner after posting 2.25 ERA across 32 starts and 180 innings.

He reportedly is looking for a contract that would pay him more than $200 million, but has not received anything close to that number. In fact, only the New York Yankees have offered him a deal that was a six-year, $150 million contracts

Snell remains a free agent after objecting to it.

MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand pointed out that the Cy Young winner may need to lower his asking price. If that occurs, there may be a plethora of suitors vying for the talented left-hander.

“If that ask comes down, one American League executive predicted that multiple clubs could throw their hat in the ring,” according to him

Philadelphia might be among those waiting teams.

According to reports, they were interested in Snell but not enough to make a contract offer, most likely because of the salary he is seeking this summer.

The Phillies might make a strong run at the current Cy Young winner if the asking price falls into a range they could accept.
