When will Ronnie O’Sullivan return to snooker action following his victory against Donald Trump in the World Grand Prix?
After defeating Judd Trump 10–7 in the World Grand Prix, Ronnie O’Sullivan will have a day to celebrate. On Tuesday, he will compete in the Yushan World Open qualification round. This week, Ronnie O’Sullivan will be performing in the less glamorous setting of a Barnsley recreation center instead of the packed house at Leicester’s Morningside Arena.
World No. 1 O’Sullivan won the World Grand Prix on Sunday, capping an incredible run of play in which he overcame Judd Trump 10-7 in the final in Leicester, having been down 4-0 at one point.
It happened one week after he won the Shanghai Masters and UK Championship, taking home £876,500 in prize money, to secure his eighth Masters title with a 10-7 victory over Ali Carter at Alexandra Palace. It was an incredible campaign.
O’Sullivan’s goal this week is to earn a spot at the World Open in Yushan, China (March 18–24), which is located in the Jiangxi Province.
against Tuesday night, he will take against world No. 98 Alfie Burden in his first match of the competition at Barnsley’s Metrodome.
World champion Luca Brecel and reigning champion Judd Trump’s matches have been postponed until the tournament’s main venue, but O’Sullivan has to go to Yorkshire this week to see them.
With qualifying continuing until Wednesday, O’Sullivan will at least be in great company as some of the biggest names in the sport, including Neil Robertson, Mark Selby, Mark Allen, John Higgins, and Shaun Murphy, hope to secure a trip to Yushan for the final 64.
Every match consists of nine best-of-five frames.
Despite acknowledging that “I’ve had enough” and “I don’t think age is really an issue,” O’Sullivan has no intentions to retire. O’Sullivan responds to winning his third World Grand Prix
During the World Grand Prix, O’Sullivan declared, “I’m going to try to qualify for the China event because I like the China events.”
“I’ll pretty much be done after that. I want to attend the Players tournament as well, as it seems like a good competition.”
O’Sullivan wants to
At the World Championship, O’Sullivan will be vying for a record-tying eighth victory.
In his opinion, Trump is the “favourite” to win the trophy at the Crucible, he has stated.
