NBA Trade Rumors: Bruce Brown is Linked to the Lakers and Knicks; Raptors Seek First-Rounder, More

Rather than being a good player on the court, the 27-year-old is more of a trade asset to the Raptors.

Toronto is at least going through a transitional period that will likely take many years, if the team isn’t going through a complete rebuild. Before he becomes eligible for free agency in 2025, Brown has a club option for 2024–2025. Before then, it’s hard to see the Raptors seriously competing, so they may as well look into his trade market.

The adaptable 6’4″ guard/forward proved his worth to a squad hoping to win a title the previous season. During the Denver Nuggets’ NBA Finals run, he averaged 12 points and 4 rebounds. Denver was able to play smaller lineups and take advantage of mismatches on the other end because to his defensive versatility.

Brown has already made his case for why the Knicks would be a good match for him.

“I am a dog,” he declared to Jared Schwartz of the New York Post. “I give my all on both ends of the court. I’m very much capable to doing anything [head coach Tom Thibodeau] asks of me.”

With the trade of both RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley to acquire OG Anunoby, New York lost some depth in the backcourt, which his arrival would assist to make up for.

According to NBA.com, the Lakers rank 13th in defensive rating (113.9) and 18th in three-point percentage (36.0), so adding a three-and-D wing would be quite beneficial.
