The Browns are allegedly signing former Ravens Super Bowl MVP quarterback Joe Flacco.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Cleveland Browns have signed Joe Flacco, the former Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
Flacco met with the organization and will allegedly sign with the practice squad with the goal of joining the active roster, according to reports. Flacco joined the Browns after starting quarterback Deshaun Watson suffered a season-ending fracture in his throwing shoulder.
According quarterback Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, Flacco will tutor youngster Dorian Thompson-Robinson in an apparent backup position.
Thompson-Robinson began Sunday in Cleveland’s 13-10 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. He completed 24 of 43 passes for 165 yards (3.8 per attempt), no touchdowns, and one interception. The Browns prevailed despite a terrible offensive performance, improving to 7-3 and remaining in contention for the AFC North crown. The Ravens (8-3) lead the division by half a game.
Flacco, 38, spent 11 seasons with the Ravens before moving on to the Denver Broncos for one year and the New York Jets for three. Following the 2012 season, he led the Ravens to a 34-31 Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Last season, he started four games for the Jets.
