Davante Adams of the Raiders appears to have a leg injury during joint practice with the 49ers.
HENDERSON, Nevada San Francisco 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward laid out Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams as he attempted a short grab over the middle on the opening snap of Friday’s 11-on-11 drills. Players and coaches from both teams gathered around Adams as soon as he remained on the field in pain.
When Adams was eventually assisted by the Raiders’ training staff to stand, it was clear that he was uncomfortable. He was helped to the sidelines, where he was able to stand on his own while a trainer began to assess his right leg.
Adams sat down on a cooler a few moments later, keeping his head down while a group of trainers gathered around him. It took him a few minutes to get back to his feet, wearing a leg sleeve on his right shin. With caution, he limped toward the sideline and spoke with a few trainers before making his way off the practice field and into the training room.
Although Adams and the Raiders experienced a frightening scenario, a league source informed The Athletic that Adams’ injury is not serious. Although that’s a good result, it’s not known when he will be able to resume his activities.
Following practice, head coach Josh McDaniels remarked, “I don’t think it was crazy serious.” “It was a very powerful play.”
Throughout his career, the 30-year-old receiver has shown remarkable durability. In nine seasons, he has only missed 11 games, and since 2020, he has not missed any. Furthermore, he seldom ever skips practice.
Adams was not expected to play in the Raiders’ opening preseason game against the 49ers on Sunday; however, on Wednesday, they will participate in their first of two joint sessions in Thousand Oaks, California, against the Los Angeles Rams.
