After his father passed away in December, Mario Lemina has paid respect to him.
Following his death on December 29, the Wolves midfielder was unable to play for his team in their last two Premier League games. Wolves announced the news on social media ahead of their encounter against Everton.
The 30-year-old’s teammates then honored him throughout the match, which they won 3-0, by waving a home shirt with his name and number on the back.
The midfield player missed the match because he had to travel to France to spend time with his family.
Now, more than two weeks later, he has spoken out, paying respect to his father and thanking people around him for their support.
“I am deeply saddened by the irreversible loss of my father,” the midfield player for Wolves wrote on X, the former Twitter platform. “In every aspect of my life, on and off the field, I am reminded of his boundless love and steadfast support.
“Our lives are left with a huge void by his departure.” May his soul rest in peace forever.

Lemina said after the game that his father had been in the hospital. On Christmas Eve, he had dedicated his goal during Wolves’ 2-1 victory over Chelsea to his father.
By the way, I wanted to give my dad a note. After the game, he told Sky Sports, “He has been in the hospital for the past two months.”
