“Breaking: Jaire Alexander might not play for the Green Bay Packers against the 49ers following a disappointing update…
Today’s practice was going well. Guys are concentrated and locked in, as they need to be. It’s the postseason. We’re happy with our current location. We know that it’s win or lose; it’s have to be do or die. So, this week’s assignment is challenging. The Packers proved last week against the Cowboys that they are a very talented football team. They’re pushing the ball down the field, and I believe that their run game is at its best at the moment. The offensive line’s several methods of controlling the line of scrimmage buy [Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan] time. adore delivering the ball off play action across the field. However, Green Bay Packers running back Aaron Jones and
ME: Jordan Love had a rough start to the season, but he’s been on fire in the second half. How strong is he actually, and how can you counter him?
WILKS: “I believe he is really talented. I believe he was NFC Player of the Week for a good portion of the season—possibly two or three times. He’s accomplishing a lot of amazing things, but I believe that guarding the ball is his main accomplishment. He is directing the ball to its proper location. When you consider a young player like that, you tend to forget that he really spent three years playing behind [Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback for the New York Jets]. So much has been learnt by him. He is an adult. On the field, that is evident.
ME: Jordan Love had a difficult start to the season, but the second half of the game has seen him light up. How much of a force is he really, and how can you stop him?
WILKS: “I think he’s really gifted. He may have won NFC Player of the Week twice or three times throughout the season, in my opinion. Though he’s doing a lot of incredible things, I think his greatest achievement to far has been his ability to protect the ball. He’s guiding the ball to where it belongs. It’s easy to overlook the fact that a young kid like him actually played behind [New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers for three years]. He has learned a great deal. He is a grown-up. UponWILKS: “Well, that counter isn’t there. That’s kind of what I was implying—that he was able to catch up to Aaron during those final three years. One of Aaron’s most successful strategies was to slightly stray in order to purchase time. I mean, Love, he’s got the arm power to still get the ball down the field. You saw that against the Cowboys with no pressure, and he made what I refer to as a “Dino post” play to score in the red zone. We need to do an excellent job of truly latching on to our receivers, or what we refer to as back-end plastering at this point. He’ll be quite effective at buying time. That’s something he can do with his
Q: “He’s quite talented. He sprints with his pads in behind. He has the ability to run between tackles. He has a great ability to jump set and get the ball to the defense’s edge. It’s a key point of focus every week, but especially this week; we need to do a fantastic job at setting edges. Once more, I believe he does a fantastic job of forcing the first player to miss after making contact by sprinting behind his pads. With eleven people crowding the ball, we must do really well.
