Evan Stewart, a former five-star wide receiver, has applied to transfer to the NCAA. In the top-ranked 2022 recruiting class, he picked Texas A&M.
As a rookie, Stewart led the Aggies in receptions (53) and receiving yards (649), while also collecting two touchdown passes. This season, he has 38 catches for 514 yards and four touchdowns. Stewart has played in big games in the Southeastern Conference. Alabama snatched Jameson Williams from Ohio State’s transfer portal for 2021, and it proved to be a brilliant decision.
Williams has 79 receptions for 1,572 yards and 15 touchdowns, helping Alabama win the SEC Championship and advance to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
Alabama returns Isaiah Bond, Kobe Prentice, Kendrick Law, Emmanuel Henderson, Jalen Hale, Malik Benson, and Jarmaine Hamilton, but Jermaine Burton is off to the NFL Draft.
Ja’Corey Brooks went to Louisville, and Thaiu Jones-Bell went through the transfer portal. Saban must consider adding Stewart’s experience to Alabama’s wide receiver group, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
