Spurs considering a move for the Ligue 1 defender

When Tottenham Hotspur plays in-form Everton on Saturday afternoon, they’ll be looking to win three straight games.

The Lilywhites had a great start to the season and led the Premier League standings after 10 games, but they lost their top status after a five-game losing streak.

However, Ange Postecoglou’s team has been playing better lately, defeating Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

The Australian may add players to his roster during the January transfer window, and it seems Spurs are interested in a Ligue 1 defender.

According to Football Insider, the North London team is considering Jean-Clair Todibo of Nice.

The 23-year-old, who had spent the previous six months on loan at the French team, left Spanish powerhouse Barcelona to join Nice in the summer of 2021.

Since then, he has made an impact in the French top division, appearing in 117 games for Nice in all competitions and solidifying his place among the top center defenders in Ligue 1.

The report says that even though Spurs are interested, a move for Todibo might be difficult.

Nice, who are presently vying for the title with two other teams in the French first division, is hesitant to lose one of its key players in the middle of the competition.

The Frenchman is under contract with his current club through the summer of 2027. He made his senior international debut for Les Bleus in September.

Manchester United, Tottenham’s Premier League rivals, are rumored to be interested in the player as well, and they are thought to be in the lead in the race to sign him.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a nice owner, is expected to acquire a minority stake in United, which would bolster Manchester United’s argument for signing Todibo.
