Norfolk State Spartans Football Announces New Head Coach: Former Player Takes the Helm

Norfolk State adds 11 games to future football schedules

Norfolk, VA – In an exciting move for the Norfolk State Spartans football program, the university has officially announced the hiring of former player and standout linebacker, Marcus Johnson, as the new head coach. Johnson, who played for the Spartans from 2005 to 2009, will take over the program at the conclusion of the current season, marking a significant homecoming for the Norfolk native.

Johnson’s appointment comes after a challenging season for the Spartans, who are looking to revitalize their program and build on a legacy of excellence in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
