LET’S GO!!! OFFICIAL: NEWCASTLE KNIGHTS SIGN FORWARD LIAM KNIGHT ON THREE-YEAR DEAL

NEWCASTLE – The Newcastle Knights have seized a golden opportunity to secure the signature of experienced NRL forward Liam Knight, with the club officially announcing a three-year contract following his release from English Super League side Hull FC.

The journeyman prop, who has represented four different NRL teams throughout his career, is set to return to Australian rugby league after mutually parting ways with Hull FC. Knight had been contracted with the Black & Whites until the end of next season, but the club granted his release on compassionate grounds to allow him to head home.

In a statement, Hull FC confirmed: “The club has mutually agreed to release the player from the remainder of his contract to return to Australia on compassionate grounds. Knight joined the club during the 2025 campaign, and made 22 appearances for the Black & Whites.”

Knight last featured in the NRL in 2024 for the Canterbury Bulldogs, where he established himself as a reliable and physical presence in the forward pack. Prior to his stint in England, he had also pulled on the jerseys of the Sydney Roosters, South Sydney Rabbitohs and Canberra Raiders, building a reputation as a hard-working front-rower with strong ball-carrying ability and solid defensive skills.

Newcastle Knights head of football expressed excitement about the acquisition, stating: “We’re delighted to welcome Liam to the Knights family. When the opportunity arose to bring a player with his level of experience back to the NRL and to our club, we moved quickly to make it happen. Liam has proven himself at the highest level both in Australia and overseas, and his leadership and work ethic will be a tremendous asset to our squad.”

Knight shared his gratitude for the opportunity to return home and join the Knights: “I’m thrilled to be coming back to Australia and to sign with the Newcastle Knights. The chance to play in the NRL again and be closer to family was something I couldn’t pass up. I want to thank Hull FC for their understanding and support in allowing me to make this move. Now I’m focused on getting back to full fitness and contributing to the Knights’ success over the next three years – let’s go!”

The three-year deal will see Knight link up with the Knights immediately ahead of the 2026 NRL season, providing much-needed depth and experience to their forward pack as they aim to push for finals contention.
