Jaime Ffrench, a wide receiver from Mandarin High School, is a top pass catcher in the next cycle. Prior to the famed head coach Nick Saban’s retirement, he had made a commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide. In this one, a number of significant programs—including the Tennessee Volunteers—have joined the picture.

Tennessee’s prospects improved when Brentwood

Ffrench is a skilled playmaker; he has caught 62 passes for 1,247 yards and 14 touchdowns. He can outrun opponents with his pace, and once he gets hold of the ball, he seems to click into a higher gear. Ffrench outpaces defenders by finding space in the open field and working his route directly vertically. While moving upfield, he keeps his balance, which allows him to avoid tackles and continue moving forward.

Hands That Are Natural

The top catchers of passes are able to find the ball into their hands without assisting with a body move. Ffrench possesses the considerable hand strength needed for it. He could steer the football and complete the grab late in the play, but there were other instances on video where he found the ball late. A number of other Florida products have shown comparable hands at the same age, demonstrating an amazing ability to take advantage of timing. French can wait for the ball to move away from defensive backs and then, in an unopposed window, take it out of the air at the last second.

Dividend

Ffrench appears to be a full receiver and is a fluid operator. He weighs 185 pounds and stands 6 feet 1 inch. He moves smoothly throughout his routes. Ffrench does a good job of building up to his explosion, gradually positioning his defender before launching an all-out assault and seeing it through. To keep things interesting for corners, he approaches every rep at a different pace and modifies his release technique at the line of scrimmage.
