🔥 LAMPARD HAILS HIS HEROES: ‘THIS IS FOR THE FANS — WE BELIEVED!’
ST JAMES’ PARK — Frank Lampard could barely contain his pride tonight after his Coventry City side produced the performance of the season, stunning Newcastle United 4-1 right here on their own turf. It was a display that had everything — courage, quality, and absolute belief — and the Sky Blues boss was beaming as he addressed reporters afterwards.
“What a night. What a performance,” Lampard began, his voice filled with emotion. “To come to a place like St James’ Park and play the way we did, in front of their passionate fans, is something I will never forget. We didn’t just come here to compete — we came here to show what we are capable of. Every single player was magnificent. They executed the plan perfectly, they fought for every ball, and they showed incredible composure to score four goals away from home. That is not luck — that is a team with heart and ambition.”
Asked about the atmosphere as his side tore Newcastle apart, Lampard smiled: “It was special. When you hear your own fans singing loud and proud in an away ground this big, it gives you wings. We knew we had quality in the team; today we showed it to the world. We stayed calm, we trusted each other, and when the chances came, we took them. That’s football at its best.”
“This result isn’t about me — it’s about these players, this club, and our supporters. They travelled in numbers today, and they deserved a performance to be proud of. Tonight, we gave them one they’ll never forget. We know there is still a long way to go this season, but nights like this give you belief. We will enjoy this — we earned it — and then we get back to work. But what a feeling. What a victory.”
