GEELONG COACH SCOTT REVEALS REASON BEHIND $3M FAMILY HOME SALE
Geelong Cats head coach Chris Scott has opened up about his decision to sell the couple’s family home alongside his long-time wife, with reports from late 2025 confirming the property – listed at $3 million – has now changed hands.
In his first public comments on the sale, Scott spoke candidly about the mutual choice he and his wife made, emphasizing that the move was driven by new beginnings rather than any rift – with both the Geelong Advertiser and realestate.com.au verifying the pair remain deeply committed.
“It was a decision we talked about for months, sitting around the kitchen table after Leila had gone to bed,” Scott said. “After so many years in this house, it wasn’t easy – but we both agreed it was time to turn the page and create new memories somewhere fresh.”
The couple, who have been married for more than two decades, first met when Scott was playing for the Brisbane Lions in the early 2000s – a time he describes as “the start of everything” for both his football career and personal life. Together they raised their daughter Leila in the Geelong home, which became a sanctuary away from the spotlight of AFL coaching.
“The house holds every moment of Leila’s childhood – her first steps in the hallway, birthday parties in the backyard, countless afternoons watching her ride her bike down the driveway,” Scott said. “We’ll never let go of those memories, but we also know that a home is more about the people in it than the walls around it.”
Reports from the Geelong Advertiser in November 2025 first announced the property listing, noting the four-bedroom home in a prestigious inner-Geelong suburb featured modern renovations and sweeping views of the city. Realestate.com.au later confirmed the sale had settled in late December, with the new owners moving in just before Christmas.
Scott, who has led the Cats to multiple premierships since taking over as head coach in 2011, reassured fans that the move would not affect his commitment to the club. “Geelong is still our home base, and my focus on the team remains absolute,” he said. “This is just about us as a family, taking the next step together – the same way we’ve taken every step since we met in Brisbane all those years ago.”
His wife added in a brief statement: “We’re excited for what’s next, but we’ll always look back on this house with so much love.
