“GEELONG STAR JEREMY CAMERON CONFIRMS NO CONTRACT EXTENSION BEYOND CURRENT DEAL, ENDING DUAL-CLUB DYNASTY”

Geelong Cats superstar Jeremy Cameron has sent shockwaves through the AFL by confirming he will not extend his contract beyond its final term, bringing to a close one of the most decorated forward careers in modern football history at the end of his current deal.

The 32-year-old (born 1 April 1993) – who has established himself as one of the game’s most dominant key forwards – made the announcement today, ending speculation that had swirled around his future despite reports suggesting a potential extension to 2027. His five-year deal with the Cats, signed in late 2020 as a restricted free agent for around $900,000 per season plus incentives, runs through 2025, with Cameron stating his sole focus remains on performing at his best for the remainder of his time in the hoops.

Cameron’s journey has spanned two powerhouse clubs: he spent nine seasons with Greater Western Sydney Giants from 2010 to 2020, becoming the club’s all-time leading goalkicker with 427 majors and leading their goalkicking in every single season. His 2019 campaign yielded 67 home-and-away goals and the Coleman Medal, while he also claimed five All-Australian selections and the 2013 Kevin Sheedy Medal during his time at GWS – a period that saw him transform the expansion club’s fortunes.

Geelong paid significant draft capital to secure his services, and the investment paid immediate dividends. Cameron led the Cats to the 2022 AFL Premiership, earning the Carji Greeves Medal (club best & fairest) in the same year. He added a second Coleman Medal in 2025, was named All-Australian in 2022 and 2024, and served as captain of the 2025 All-Australian side, while leading Geelong’s goalkicking multiple times.

His decision to walk away at the end of 2025 means fans will have just one more season to witness his elite goal-kicking and game-changing presence on the field. For a player who has defined success at both GWS and Geelong, the announcement marks the beginning of the final chapter in a career that has already secured his place among the AFL’s all-time great forwards.
