NETFLIX TO HONOUR MANLY LEGEND BOB FULTON IN NEW RELEASE
Good news for Australian rugby league fans and football lovers worldwide as Netflix officially announces a new production celebrating Bob Fulton, the most celebrated player in Manly Sea Eagles history – a tribute set to bring one of the game’s greatest stories to global audiences.
Fulton, affectionately known as “Bozo,” etched his name into rugby league folklore during his 11-year tenure at Manly from 1966 to 1976, leaving an indelible mark as a dominant player and leader. His on-field triumphs included three NRL premierships in 1972, 1973, and 1976 – captaining the Sea Eagles to their 1976 victory in his final game for the club.
A master of the unorthodox, Fulton’s attacking brilliance saw him shatter records: he holds Manly’s all-time try-scoring mark with 129 tries and topped the club’s try tally in 1972, 1973, and 1976. Across 213 first-grade games in maroon and white, he amassed 510 points, establishing himself as the heart of the Sea Eagles’ golden era.
His legacy extended far beyond Brookvale Oval. Fulton represented Australia in 35 tests, captaining the Kangaroos seven times and lifting World Cup trophies, while also earning selection for New South Wales 16 times. In 1981, he was inducted as one of the original four “Immortals” of Australian Rugby League – the sport’s highest honour – and later named in both the Australian and New South Wales Teams of the Century in 2008.
The Netflix release comes as rugby league continues to grow its global footprint, with fans across Asia, Europe, and the Americas embracing the fast-paced, physical sport. For Manly supporters, the production will be a chance to relive the glory days of a true icon, while new audiences will discover the story of a player whose competitive spirit and match-winning genius defined an era.
Though details of the format – whether documentary or drama – remain under wraps, the announcement has sparked excitement among football communities worldwide, highlighting how sporting legacies can unite fans across continents.
