Panthers Poach Promising Centre from Warriors

Penrith Panthers are set to bolster their squad depth by securing the signature of Patrick Moimoi from the New Zealand Warriors. This marks the fourth player from the Warriors to join the Panthers’ ranks for the 2026 NRL season, following the earlier acquisitions of forwards Kalani Going, Toby Crosby, and Tom Ale.

Moimoi, the nephew of former Parramatta Eels star Fuifui Moimoi, is a highly regarded centre who has shown considerable promise in his appearances for the Warriors’ reserve-grade side. Despite spending most of the year in the Under-21s Jersey Flegg Cup, he made two appearances in the NSW Cup, where he impressed with his physicality and skill.

In less than 40 minutes on the field, Moimoi recorded two tackle busts, nine passes, 15 tackles, and 57 running metres. His performances have caught the eye of the Panthers’ recruitment team, who believe he has the potential to develop into a valuable first-grade player.

The move to Penrith comes as Moimoi has found himself lower in the pecking order at the Warriors, with Sio Kali also ahead of him in the race for a first-grade debut. At just 21 years old, the switch to the Panthers offers Moimoi a fresh opportunity to showcase his talent and further his career.

The Panthers’ aggressive recruitment strategy highlights their commitment to building a strong and competitive squad for the future. By adding young, talented players like Moimoi, they aim to ensure sustained success in the NRL.
