Sunderland Faces Injury Concerns Ahead of Wolves Clash

Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris is sweating on the fitness of key players Noah Sadiki and Omar Alderete ahead of their Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light this Saturday. The news comes after both players sustained injuries while on international duty.

Sadiki, who represents DR Congo, was forced to return early after suffering an ankle injury. The extent of the injury is still being assessed, with Le Bris remaining optimistic about the young midfielder’s chances of featuring in the weekend’s game. “For Noah, we checked him yesterday and he seems okay,” Le Bris stated. “We will see after the training sessions today and tomorrow if he is available, but we are positive.”

Meanwhile, Paraguayan defender Omar Alderete was substituted in the second half of his country’s match against South Korea due to a muscle problem. Alderete’s situation is further complicated by the long flight back to England, leaving Le Bris cautious about his availability. “For Omar, after such a long flight, we will see,” Le Bris commented. “We had a quick chat with him yesterday and it was positive, but we will have to wait and see.”

Despite the concerns surrounding Sadiki and Alderete, Le Bris confirmed that the rest of the squad has returned from international duty in good condition and are available for selection. This provides a boost for the Black Cats as they look to continue their positive start to the Premier League season.

The potential absence of Sadiki and Alderete would be a blow for Sunderland, as both players have been integral to the team’s recent performances. Sadiki’s energy and dynamism in midfield have been a key asset, while Alderete’s defensive solidity and experience have provided a strong foundation at the back.

Le Bris will be hoping that both players can recover in time for the game against Wolves, as he looks to field his strongest possible side. A win against Wolves would further solidify Sunderland’s position in the top half of the table and provide a platform to build on for the rest of the season. The final decision on their availability will be made after assessing them in training.
