Florida Gators WR Muizz Tounkara Added to Friday’s Injury Report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Florida Gators have released their initial availability report ahead of their highly anticipated matchup against the No. 9 Texas Longhorns on Saturday. A notable addition to the injury list is true freshman wide receiver Muizz Tounkara, who is now listed as questionable.

Tounkara, a native of Texas, was hoping to play against his home state team. He has recorded two catches for 12 yards in four appearances this season.

Despite Tounkara’s questionable status, Florida’s sophomore quarterback DJ Lagway will have a full arsenal of weapons at his disposal. Redshirt sophomore Aidan Mizell is healthy and available, along with freshman Dallas Wilson, who is set to make his season debut. Senior starter J.Michael Sturdivant has also returned from a concussion.

Other available receivers include freshman Vernell Brown III, redshirt sophomore Eugene Wilson III, and redshirt freshman TJ Abrams.

“Aidan’s healthy, Dallas is healthy. J-Mike is back. Tre and VB, and then we’ve got (more) guys. TJ Abrams,” UF coach Billy Napier said on Wednesday. “We’ve had the two or three of the main guys, but we’ve been missing a piece or two each week — and that’s normal. But we got the full gauntlet out there ready to go for Saturday.”

Tounkara’s potential absence could impact the Gators’ receiver rotation. He was projected to be the No. 3 receiver at the X position, with Wilson and Sturdivant also in the mix.

The Gators (1-3) are looking to upset the Longhorns (3-1) in their upcoming game, which will be broadcast on ESPN at 3:30 p.m.
