Régis Le Bris Praises Sunderland’s Squad Togetherness After Strong Start to Premier League Season

Sunderland, England – Sunderland Head Coach Régis Le Bris has highlighted the strong bond within his squad, attributing their impressive start to the Premier League season to the unwavering togetherness amongst his players. The Lads have accumulated 11 points from their first six games, suffering only one defeat, and recently secured a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.

Le Bris emphasized the importance of squad unity, stating, “It’s so important. The togetherness is non-negotiable. If you don’t work hard for the squad, you can’t be in the squad.” He believes that this collective spirit has been a key factor in their success, both in securing promotion last season and in their current Premier League campaign.

The Head Coach also praised the club’s recruitment strategy, noting that the new players have seamlessly integrated into the squad. “Even now, that is contagious. With the new players, I think we recruited really well because their personalities match really well with our squad,” Le Bris explained. He highlighted the commitment of all players, regardless of their role, saying, “They are working hard even if they are on the bench, they can come off and give all the energy they have to help the squad, and it was the case again this evening.”

Omar Alderete’s decisive header against Nottingham Forest secured Sunderland’s first away win of the season. As they prepare for a challenging match against Manchester United this weekend, Sunderland aims to maintain their momentum before the October international break.

Le Bris acknowledged the difficulty of winning games in the Premier League, emphasizing the importance of building solid foundations. “It’s tough to win games in this league. The foundations we are building together are now clear for all the Lads,” he said. He also stressed the need for continuous improvement, adding, “We want to add layers progressively. Being better with the ball, for example, but we are being tough to beat.”
