Lowry, who helped guide the team to seven consecutive playoff berths and an NBA championship in 2019, was ultimately retained by the Raptors. After the championship season, he played for two seasons with Toronto before eventually being traded to the Miami Heat in the 2021 offseason.

Before being traded to Charlotte by the Heat last season in exchange for Terry Rozier, Lowry played for Miami for two and a half seasons. The 38-year-old was eventually bought out on February 11 and never played for the Hornets.

The former icon of the Raptors will be eligible for unrestricted free agency this summer, and he has no intention of retiring before the following campaign. He intends to sign a one-day contract with the Raptors before ultimately retiring from the NBA, but it is unlikely that he will re-sign in Toronto.
