PARRAMATTA EELS STAR ZAC LOMAX SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY AMID LEGAL STOUSH WITH CLUB
Parramatta Eels winger Zac Lomax has been suspended indefinitely from all club activities until outstanding matters surrounding his contractual future are fully resolved, following revelations from explosive Supreme Court documents.
The legal dispute between the Eels and their 2025 Provan-Summons Medal winner has escalated dramatically, with court filings revealing the Melbourne Storm formally requested the NRL intervene and “apply the blow torch” to Parramatta to secure Lomax’s release.
According to the tendered documents, the Storm allegedly warned the Eels that the NRL could impose punitive salary cap measures if the blue and golds refused to accept their compensation offer for the star outside back. The nature and details of the proposed compensation have not been made public as the matter remains before the courts.
Lomax joined Parramatta ahead of the 2025 season and immediately established himself as a key figure for the club. He claimed rugby league’s most prestigious community award – the Provan-Summons Medal – which recognises both on-field excellence and off-field character. The winger finished the year as a finalist for Winger of the Year, registering 9 tries and 53 goals across the regular season and finals series, cementing his reputation as one of the competition’s premier backs.
A Parramatta Eels spokesperson confirmed the suspension in a brief statement: “Zac Lomax has been stood down from all club duties indefinitely while we work to resolve the current legal matters. The club is committed to protecting its contractual interests and will make no further comment while proceedings are active.”
The NRL has acknowledged receiving the Storm’s request for intervention but stated it would not take any action until the court process is complete. A league spokesperson said: “The NRL is aware of the matters before the Supreme Court and will respect the judicial process. Any decisions relating to player registrations or salary cap compliance will be made once all facts are established.”
Lomax is yet to make a public comment on the dispute.
