Leeds United midfielder Marc Roca is anticipated to be a summer transfer target for Real Betis, but the La Liga side’s need for extra finances to finance the deal is an issue, which may now be assisted by Crystal Palace.

Leeds’ current squad’s transfer concerns focus primarily around numerous players whose initial loan periods away from the club are coming to an end.

It’s unclear whether many of those players have further clauses in place if Leeds stay in the Championship, but Marc Roca does, as he stated earlier this season.

Marc Roca wanted by Betis, could cost significant sum if Leeds are promoted

Roca’s achievements for Real Betis this season have earned him permanent transfer negotiations, with most Spanish sites reporting that the Sevilla club is interested in a trade for 24/25.

He has already purchased a property in the area, but if Leeds wins at Wembley, his only chance of returning to Betis in the summer will be through a permanent fee.

According to a January report from Spain, a £17.2 million fee may be required to sign the Spaniard if Leeds get promoted.

Even though the La Liga club is expected to compete in European football next season, such a cost appears to be out of reach.

Fabrizio Romano: Real Betis to sell Chadi Riad to Crystal Palace, could boost Leeds

Betis’ chances of gaining the funds to tie down Roca permanently could be boosted with Fabrizio Romano sharing that Crystal Palace are set to sign Betis defender Chadi Riad for around €14million:

The centre-back is seemingly heading to Selhurst Park this summer, which will be a financial boost for Betis as they aim to sign Roca.

This is despite the fact that El Desmarque reports that Barcelona will receive 50% of the Riad price, but Spanish site Sport (via Barca Extra) claims the defender would cost €18 million (£15.3 million).

This expenditure may make them more likely to finance a long-term commitment to keep Roca.

Betis receiving a reasonable fee for Riad might help them support their own transfer business, and Roca should be a priority.

He is not a centre-back, so the cash may be used to replace Riad directly, but this is good news for us, since we hope Betis has the clout to keep Roca long-term.

It’s clear that he doesn’t want to be at Leeds anymore, and we’d like to sell him, so maybe this is a move in that direction.
