Ronnie O’Sullivan emerged victorious in the final of the Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker.
Ronnie O’Sullivan won the inaugural Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker by defeating Luca Brecel 5-2 in the final. The score was 2-2 at the interval, with O’Sullivan making breaks of 95 and 94 and Brecel an 81. O’Sullivan secured victory with a 124, earning him the £250,000 top prize. The tournament was a fantastic one, with a brilliant venue, great crowd, and music playing in between frames. The semi-finals took place on the same day, with O’Sullivan winning 4-1 against Judd Trump and Brecel beating Mark Allen 4-2. The tournament in Saudi Arabia included a golden ball worth 20 points, which was placed on the top cushion throughout a frame for as long as a player could complete the maximum break.
John Higgins nearly became the first player to break a 167 in a golf tournament, but overhit his approach to the yellow in his second round win against Mark Williams. The prize for a 167 break will be doubled at the next event. O’Sullivan plans to take the tournament this year and then the golden ball next year, aiming for a successful year.
