Ohio State QB Will Howard sends one last strong message to Buckeye Nation after the National Championship

The most important thing the Buckeyes needed heading into this last season was for their move at quarterback to work out.

Ohio State opted to bring in Will Howard from the transfer portal after Kyle McCord transferred to Syracuse. Howard came in and was the exact player and leader that the Buckeyes needed under center.

Howard had a big hand in on the National Championship run that the Buckeyes just made. The former Kansas State QB was a standout in his only season in Columbus.

Now, Howard will be turning his focus to the NFL draft process and all that comes with it. Prior to that, the newly crowned champion reflected on his time in Columbus a bit.

“I’m just so thankful that I got a chance to be here and to be a Buckeye. I truly believe that God has a plan for all of us and that God’s plan brought me here to Ohio State for a reason,” Howard said recently, via Eleven Warriors. “I’m just so blessed that I got to share this with all of you, with my brothers out here, with my coaches, with my family in the stands, and with my family that is all of you, Buckeye Nation, and the state of Ohio. I love you guys, man. I’m a Buckeye forever. Go Bucks.”

As a senior in Columbus, Howard threw for 4,010 yards and 35 touchdowns. The fifth-year QB had just 10 interceptions and added seven rushing touchdowns. Howard’s connection with freshman star Jeremiah Smith was special from the jump in Columbus. The two connected on four touchdowns during the College Football Playoff run.

Howard may have only played 16 of his 50 college games with the Buckeyes, but he will be remembered ever for his run with Ohio State. Not many folks can say they were a National Championship-winning quarterback at Ohio State, but Howard can.
