BYU 2025 NFL draft profiles: Tyler Batty, defensive end
BYU’s Tyler Batty, a former three-star recruit from Payson, Utah, has developed into a serious NFL draft prospect thanks to his size and natural instinct for the position.
At 6-foot-5 and 275 pounds, Batty has been a multi-year starter for the Cougars, showcasing his talent and leadership on the field as a team captain.
In 2024, the fifth-year senior finished with 1.5 sacks, two interceptions, and 59 total tackles.
While the stats might not jump off the page, Batty’s presence on the field was unquestionable. He pressured the quarterback 29 times over the season, averaging 2.2 hurries per game, and recorded 7.0 tackles for loss.
His added ability to clog running lanes and make tackles in open space earned him First-Team Big 12 honors this year.
With several years of experience under his belt, Batty brings a level of maturity to the table that could set him apart from other, younger prospects. By the start of the 2025 season, he will be 25 years old, which could be seen by teams as both an advantage and a concern.
Batty has accepted invitations to both the East-West Shrine Bowl and the NFL Combine, where he’ll have an opportunity to showcase his talents in front of hundreds of NFL scouts, coaches, and executives.
Though Batty is currently ranked as the 176th overall prospect by PFF and projected as a Day 3 pick by most scouts across the league, good performances at both events could vault him up draft boards.
