Kalani Sitake Addresses Media After BYU’s 36-14 Victory Over Colorado
BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake spoke to the media for the first time following the Cougars’ dominant 36-14 win over Colorado, which marked another significant milestone in their 2025 campaign.
Sitting confidently in front of reporters, Sitake praised his team’s resilience and performance, noting that the victory was a testament to the hard work and discipline instilled within the program. “We’ve been putting in a lot of effort, and it feels great to see that pay off,” Sitake said. “Our guys played with energy, and they executed the game plan well. It’s always rewarding when everyone plays together, and that’s exactly what we saw tonight.”
The Cougars, who have been showing noticeable improvement on both sides of the ball this season, showcased an impressive offensive display. BYU quarterback Cade Friel threw for 298 yards and two touchdowns, with standout performances from wide receivers including Jaren Hall, who had a key touchdown reception. The BYU defense, led by linebacker Ben Bywater, limited Colorado’s offense to just 14 points, forcing two turnovers and stifling the Buffaloes’ passing game.
Sitake also reflected on the depth and leadership of the team. “We’ve got a lot of veterans who stepped up and led by example,” Sitake said. “It’s not just the stars, but the entire roster that made this possible. I’m proud of how the young guys are developing and contributing.”
The Cougars’ performance was especially significant as it was their first major Power Five conference win this season, improving their overall record to 5-2. Sitake also noted that while the team was elated with the win, their focus would quickly turn to the next challenge.
“We’ll enjoy this one, but we’ve got to keep working,” Sitake added. “There’s a lot more football to be played.”
