Breaking News: BYU Breaks Records, Announces Double Contract Extension for Head Coach Kalani Sitake

Provo, UT — In a historic move, Brigham Young University (BYU) has announced a groundbreaking double contract extension for head football coach Kalani Sitake, following the Cougars’ record-breaking performance in the 2024 season. The university’s athletic department confirmed today that Sitake, who has been at the helm since 2016, has agreed to a multi-year extension that will keep him with the team through the 2030 season.

This marks the second contract extension Sitake has received in just three years, highlighting the incredible success and progress the program has made under his leadership. The new deal, which also includes a substantial raise and performance-based incentives, reflects BYU’s commitment to building on its momentum as it transitions into the Big 12 Conference.

“We are thrilled to continue this journey with Kalani,” said Tom Holmoe, BYU’s athletic director. “His leadership, character, and ability to inspire our players and fans have been a key factor in the success of this program. This contract extension is a reflection of our confidence in Kalani and the direction he’s leading BYU football.”

Sitake, who played at BYU in the late 1990s and returned to lead his alma mater after coaching stints at Oregon State and Utah, has overseen remarkable growth in the program. Under his guidance, the Cougars have become a consistent contender on the national stage, earning bowl appearances, and breaking numerous school records, including the most wins in a season and their highest-ever national ranking.

“It’s an honor to continue representing BYU and to help elevate this program to new heights,” Sitake said. “This is a special place with incredible fans, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to keep working with our talented staff and players.”

As BYU prepares for its first full season in the Big 12, the announcement of this extension has energized fans, who are excited for the continued success of their football team under Sitake’s leadership.
