Former Arizona State University (ASU) quarterback Jake Plummer has pledged a generous $8 million donation to support the university’s football youth program, marking a significant contribution to the development of young athletes in the state. The announcement was made on January 13, 2025, as Plummer, a standout player for ASU in the 1990s, continues to demonstrate his commitment to his alma mater and the future of football in Arizona.

Plummer, who led the Sun Devils to a memorable Rose Bowl appearance in 1997, expressed his desire to give back to the community that supported him throughout his college and professional career. The donation will go toward expanding and enhancing the ASU football program’s youth outreach initiatives, including funding for local football camps, equipment, and scholarships for young players from underprivileged backgrounds.

“I owe so much of my success to the foundation I built at ASU,” said Plummer in a statement. “This gift is a way to pay it forward and provide future generations with the opportunities and experiences I was lucky enough to have. Football has always been about teamwork, discipline, and leadership, and I believe this investment will help cultivate those values in young athletes.”

Plummer’s contribution is part of a larger effort by ASU to enhance its athletic programs and strengthen its ties with the local community. The university’s football coach, Kenny Dillingham, expressed his gratitude, stating, “Jake’s generosity will make a lasting impact on both our program and the youth of Arizona. His leadership on and off the field is an inspiration to all of us.”

The donation is expected to create long-term opportunities for youth in the state to engage with football, helping them build skills both on and off the field. ASU hopes to inspire a new generation of student-athletes, fostering the same spirit of excellence that Plummer embodied during his time as a Sun Devil.
