The professional event has been held in Alexandra Palace since 2012, but the seven-time champion expressed distaste for the storied venue.
The outspoken green baize celebrity claimed that it gave him “the heebie-jeebies” and caused him to “feel ill”.
However, the hosts remarked that it was “disappointing” that O’Sullivan thought otherwise because the reaction from players and fans had been extremely positive.
“I just don’t like this place,” O’Sullivan remarked, taking a jab at Ally Pally.
“I think it repulsive. There is filth everywhere. It’s chilly.
“I have to wear my coat everywhere because it’s freezing.”

In a swift response to O’Sullivan’s remarks, the World Snooker Tour noted that every other player had shown “unanimous positivity” for the location.
“We work alongside Alexandra Palace to provide the best possible conditions for players on and off the table,” they stated.
“Every other participant has expressed satisfaction with the location in unison. Visitors adore visiting here. Record ticket sales and the fact that every seat for general admission sold out before this year’s tournament serve as evidence of this.”

The World Snooker Tour quickly responded to O’Sullivan’s comments by pointing out that all other players had expressed “unanimous positivity” for the venue.
