LET’S GO!! IT’S NOW OFFICIAL – TROY PARROTT SIGNS PRE-CONTRACT WITH WEST HAM UNITED
Irish attacker completes £17 million transfer from AZ Alkmaar to return to Premier League
LONDON – West Ham United have confirmed the signing of Irish international attacker Troy Parrott from AZ Alkmaar, with the 23-year-old putting pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement that will see him join the Hammers at the end of the current season. The deal, valued at around £17 million, marks the player’s return to the Premier League after three successful years in the Dutch Eredivisie.
The announcement, made official at London Stadium this morning, ends months of speculation linking Parrott with a move back to England. According to Sports Boom, West Ham identified the forward as a key target to strengthen their attacking options, with manager Nuno Espírito Santo keen to add versatility and goal threat to his squad.
Parrott began his professional career at Tottenham Hotspur, making his first-team debut in 2019 before joining AZ Alkmaar on a permanent deal in 2023. Since moving to the Netherlands, he has established himself as one of the Eredivisie’s most exciting talents, scoring 29 goals and providing 15 assists in 82 appearances across all competitions. This season alone, he has netted 12 times in the league, helping AZ challenge for a top-four finish and secure European qualification.
Speaking at the official unveiling at London Stadium, Parrott expressed his delight at joining the Hammers: “I’m thrilled to be back in the Premier League and to sign for a club with such a rich history and passionate fanbase. West Ham’s ambition matches my own – they’re competing in Europe and pushing for consistent top-half finishes, and I want to play my part in taking this team forward.”
The Republic of Ireland star, who has earned 22 caps and scored 5 goals for his country, will join West Ham on a four-year contract with an option for a further 12 months. West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten described the transfer as a significant coup for the club: “Troy has proven himself at a high level in the Eredivisie – he’s a natural finisher who can play across the front line and has the physicality to thrive in the Premier League. At 23, he still has huge potential to develop, and we believe he’ll be a valuable asset for years to come.”
The £17 million fee will be paid in three installments, with AZ set to receive additional performance-based bonuses if Parrott meets predetermined targets for goals and appearances. He will remain with the Dutch side until the end of the campaign to help them see out their Eredivisie and UEFA Europa League commitments.
