BIG PREMIER LEAGUE TRANSFER – MYLES LEWIS-SKELLY SIGNS PRE-CONTRACT WITH EVERTON, REJECTS TOTTENHAM AND ASTON VILLA

Highly-rated Arsenal academy graduate commits to Goodison Park in landmark deal

LIVERPOOL – Everton FC have secured one of the most coveted young talents in English football, confirming that Myles Lewis-Skelly has officially agreed to a pre-contract agreement with the club, rejecting lucrative offers from Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa. The deal marks one of the biggest Premier League transfers in recent times, as the 19-year-old midfielder chooses to leave boyhood club Arsenal to join the Toffees ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Lewis-Skelly, who has risen through Arsenal’s renowned Hale End academy, has established himself as one of the brightest prospects in the country. He made his first-team debut for the Gunners in 2024 and has since made 28 appearances across all competitions, contributing 3 goals and 6 assists while showcasing his composure on the ball, tactical intelligence and ability to dictate play from midfield.

The England under-21 international was pursued by several top-flight clubs, with Tottenham and Aston Villa both offering significant financial packages to secure his signature. However, Lewis-Skelly has opted for Everton, citing the club’s clear pathway to regular first-team football and their vision for developing young talent as key factors in his decision.

“I’m delighted to commit my future to Everton,” said Lewis-Skelly in an official statement. “While leaving Arsenal was an incredibly difficult choice – they gave me my start in football – the opportunity at Goodison Park is one I couldn’t turn down. Everton showed me a clear plan for how they want to build the team and how I fit into that vision. I had amazing offers from other clubs, but my focus is on playing week in, week out and helping Everton achieve their goals.”

Everton manager Sean Dyche hailed the signing as a statement of intent for the club’s future. “Securing a player of Myles’ calibre is a huge boost for us,” Dyche commented. “He’s already proven he can perform at Premier League level, and at just 19, his potential is enormous. We beat off strong competition because we could offer him the platform to grow into a top midfielder – that’s a testament to the work we’re doing to attract the best young talent.”

The pre-contract agreement will see Lewis-Skelly join Everton on a free transfer when his Arsenal deal expires, with the club agreeing to a five-year contract including performance-based bonuses and a sell-on clause that will see Arsenal receive a percentage of any future transfer fee. He will remain with the Gunners until the end of the current campaign, where he is expected to continue featuring in their Premier League and UEFA Champions League squads.
