LET GO!! IT’S OFFICIAL: WOLVES HIJACK EVERTON TARGET TO SIGN GABRIEL VERON ON PRE-CONTRACT

Wolverhampton Wanderers have secured a major coup in the transfer market, announcing they have agreed a pre-contract deal with highly-rated Esporte Clube Juventude striker Gabriel Veron – a player long-touted as a prime target for Everton.

The 20-year-old Brazilian, widely regarded as one of South America’s most promising young forwards, will join Molineux in the summer when his current contract with the Campeonato Brasileiro Série B side expires. The move brings to an end months of speculation, with Everton having been linked with the striker since early last year.

Wolves head coach Rob Edwards has hailed Veron’s decision to choose the West Midlands club over their Premier League rivals, describing it as a testament to the club’s growing reputation for developing young talent.

“Gabriel’s choice to come to Wolverhampton instead of other suitors speaks volumes about our vision for the future,” said Edwards. “We’ve worked tirelessly to build a structure that gives young players the platform to thrive – from our academy through to the first team – and Gabriel has recognised that this is the perfect environment for him to reach his full potential.

“He’s a player with incredible pace, technical ability and a natural eye for goal. At just 20 years old, he already shows the maturity and work ethic we demand from every member of our squad. We’ve been monitoring his progress closely for 18 months, and our recruitment team has done exceptional work to bring him to Molineux.”

Veron has made 37 appearances for Juventude since making his senior debut in 2024, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists. His performances have also caught the attention of the Brazilian national team setup, with the striker earning call-ups to the under-23 side in recent months.

Wolves’ sporting director Matt Hobbs added: “This signing aligns perfectly with our strategy of identifying and nurturing top young talent from around the world. We’ve beaten off strong competition to secure Gabriel’s signature, and we’re confident he’ll become an important part of our squad for years to come.”

The length of Veron’s contract with Wolves has not been disclosed, though sources indicate the deal includes significant performance-related clauses and a substantial sell-on fee for Juventude.
